Republic Debacle

Image
Date: 26th Jan 2025 Dear Kapish, Like every year, this year too you took part in the Republic day celebration. But for some reason we felt you had lost focus and were not able to give it your full effort  You had been dancing very well so far and we expected the same from you, but in the end we found that you were getting distracted by the other younger kids in the group  We did try and tell you to pay attention to your dance and not oj theirs but in the dance practice it did not work! You were constantly focused on what the other kids were doing and even did a salute with the wrong hand (despite multiple reminders to use your right hand always) It was a similar pattern in your sports day as well and we do feel you are expanding all uour energy in talking and not doing what you are supposed to do But it's not fully your fault either. We as parents need to pay more attention to you and make sure you are able to bring back that energy in your dance  After coming...

Beautiful Sloth

Image
Date: 24th Jan 2025 Dear Kapish, Today was the Annual Day function of Mont-3, the last one you will have in Kinfolk (but I dont think you have realised the real impact yet) This time around the theme was to connect with Nature and the Mont-3 kids played out the story, 'The Great Mahua Tree' You were assigned to be the sloth who tell the person trying to cut the tree the following - "Sir, How much is beauty worth? If you destroy the beauty of the rainforest... on what will you feast your eyes?" You said it with absolute passion and portrayed what can be easily described as the most beautiful Sloth one can imagine 😊 There was also an amazing dance called 'The Dreamers' where you were in the front row and we ended the day saying thanks to all your teachers and then taking this picture with your Mont besties - Sarthiki and Slokha Cheers, Dadoo

Birthday 2025

Image
Date: 18th Jan 2025 Dear Kapish, We celebrated your 6th birthday yesterday and just like your 4th and 5th one, this one was grand as well! The theme was Frozen and you wanted to be Elsa and Mumma had to become Anna. Pooja aunty from 154 baked the cakes which were a big hit and this time around Mumma curated the menu to have more starters and a chat and pasta counters which were very well appreciated by everyone who attended  But something even more special happened today. Your first ever tooth fell off marking your next stage of growing up 😊 As parents, we are now realising that the change in your dental structure will probably be the precursor to what will be your eventual look as an adult  Will keep you updated for sure Cheers, Dadoo

Treasure Trove

Image
Date: 5th Jan 2024 Dear Kapish, Every year when we visit Mumbai, you receive a lot of gifts and the most important ones from those are some of the hand-downs you get from you little older cousin sisters' - Anoushka and Alisha. Most of the hand-downs are very interesting pieces of clothing (from frocks to jackets and even Halloween costumes) which you tend to love and use exclusively  This year tough, when Mangala aaji came to Parle to meet us, she had a much smaller bag - but inside it, was an actual treasure trove - Books! As you can see, these are not just any ordinary books - these are classics.. If anyone ever planned to start to a library for children, these tiles would be the first on the list and I must say we are lucky to have these handed-down from Anoushka to you I hope growing up, you read all of these and enjoy and take care of them just like all your other books Cheers, Dadoo

Tell me a real story

Image
Date: 4th Jan 2025 Dear Kapish, Yesterday, we subtly told you about our transformation plan and also hinted that the princess and other make believe stories will slowly come to an end (though realistically we know that it will continue for a few years more) However, you took our words seriously and asked if the story books you have and what we all read are all 'pretend' and then insisted that at night we tell you a real story instead So after some thought, I told you the story of the American astronaut who is currently stuck in space for over 7 months now - Sunita Williams  It did peak your interest when I told you that she had gone into space the 3rd time for some repairs to the International Space Station or ISS But her space craft developed some technical issues and NASA decided not to bring the 2 astronauts back  As I write this, they are still in space and looks like they are scheduled to come back onboard a SpaceX craft in March 2025 Before we slept yesterday...

Transformation 2025

Image
Date: 2nd Jan 2024 Dear Kapish, Happy New Year! This year too we celebrated new years in Mumbai and the focus now immediately shifts to planning your birthday which we have decided to host on 17th Jan itself, as it falls on a Friday The theme this year, as chosen by you, is Frozen and just today we went to Trendsetters shop in VileParle and got a very nice looking blue gown for you to wear - but more on this later This year, we want to bring about a small change as part of our long term target to help you grow and become a complete individual  So, while the whole of last year was all about princess and other make believe stories, we have decided to focus on transformation this year  The idea stemmed from a Tic-Tac-Toe game you got as part of someone's gift from school and we saw that it took you sometime to understand and play correctly Again, no pressure, but it gave us the idea that we can use games and activities like this to try and challenge you intellectually...

Kumta cousins

Image
Date: 29th Dec 2024 Dear Kapish, This Christmas we decided to do something very different and hence instead of spending time at home or going to Mumbai, we decided to go to Naani Aaji's hometown - Kumta! It was a last minute decision which was initiated by Mumma mainly to enable Naani aaji to visit her old home and also spend time with 2 of her sisters who were also going to be present there I was also very excited about this trip because it would end up serving multiple purposes in relation to you - Visit important temples before you start Grade 1 - Give you an experience of small town and different houses of old times - Understand your patience when it comes to long drives (8hrs with 1 stop) - Spend quality time with your cousins from mumma's side, which you really enjoyed a lot Most of the time you spent with Dhruv and Ishaan in Kumta But we also happened to go to Ankola, where you met 3 other cousin sisters with similar sounding names 😊 - Ira, Ria, Myra and Mir...
