BADminton

It was a find Saturday afternoon. As usual, it started to rain in Bengaluru and hence, Aashish and me decided to use the facilities provided by Skylark Society and play a game of badminton to build up a good appetite before hogging on Ami's delicious lunch. When we reached the court, we saw that four little boys had already occupied the court ahead of us......it was Saturday afternoon afterall. We waited for our turn.....but even after their game, the boys refused to move out. They continued to cry "We want to play more.....we want to play more." Our big heart and their continuous pestering ensured that we ended up playing, not doubles but triples badminton match. The smallest of the boys was barely tall enough to reach the lower end of the net......inspite of this, the boys refused to give up..... "Uncle....my shot......Uncle...my serve.....Uncle, I'll smash" Yes.......5 mins of playing with kids had made us 'Uncles'!!!!!! We played on and after the...

The 12 Apostles

Image
Yes obviously, Nishat guessed it correctly..... No doubt, a very very poor response to my 'Abstract Art' blog......but thats ok. The answer is out......It is the 12 Apostles.....11 now (one fell in 2006). They are basically, natural rock formattions, caused by the slow and steady erosion of the land at the Southern most tip of Australia. It's about a 200km drive to the west of Melbourne along the famous 'Great Ocean Road'. The land there is constantly bombarded by the strong currents of the Indian Ocean and Tasman Sea, accompanied by even stronger winds. These forces have carved the landscape that you see. My sketch isn't bad eh???..............remember, I didn't have this photo in front of me when I drew this sketch. For, those who want to explore more photos of the 12 Apostles further......here is the link: http://picasaweb.google.com/prasan.sh/GreatOceanRoad# I could have written about our drive........but I am certain that you'll enjoy the pictures m...

A Monday

Bengaluru Productions in association with Hegde Pictures presents: "A MONDAY" Directed by: Ami Asst. Director: 'Yours' Truly' Starring: Aashish (in his natural form) along with other friends, ex-roomates and colleagues. It all started a few weeks back. Ami, like a very good wife, wanted to throw her husband, Aashish, a surprise birthday bash. She needed a 'Partner in Crime', and who better than her devar and good friend of theirs, who stays right next door - Me :) She read me the whole script and I liked it immediately. The plan was simple - they were to travel to Munnar over the weekend and return home on Sunday at midnight, on the eve of his brithday. I was to plant a surprise gift and his laminated photo frame so that he gets a surprise when he opens the door. Later on Monday evening, we would invite all his friends over to his place and give him a bigger surprise when he walks home from office at 8pm. We wanted to get a perfect surprise gift and gave ...

Abstract Art

Image
Every once in a while, we all do something different, for a change, and only then do we realize......"Ohh, we have a hidden talent!!" I recently discovered that I have a unique nack for Abstract Art.... After I failed in the "Drawing Elimentary" exams in school, I had given up any hopes that I could ever paint or even draw. I somehow, managed to scrape through the "Engineering Drawing" subjects in first year of Engineering. I assumed that was the end of it. But I was wrong...... This last month was probably meant to change all that. On Tuesday, the Adminstartion staff, here in Open-Silicon, had organized a small celebration to mark the beginning of Navratri festival. Mails were sent out, informing everyone that there would be a 'Rangoli' function followed by 'Dandiya' in the evening. I was all set for the Dandiya and didn't even bother to check where the rangoli competition would be held. Many of you might be wondering "What's ...
