Veggie Delight

For me, a month long trip to Singapore was not only about the work, travel, tall buildings and attractions but also about tasting the whole variety of food that was on offer. So, for the past 3 weeks both wifey and me took to the local offerings like a child would take to chocolates. On a daily basis, we would switch between Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Malaysian, Indonesian and Filipino cuisines. While I practically covered the entire range of animals that was on offer, wifey tried her best to stick to Chicken as her preferred choice of meat.     There was, however, one distraction in her otherwise perfect pick when we happened to be at the ' Bread Talk ' store which was offering their signature baked bread (with different varieties of meat embedded) at 10 for $10 and we saw a lady pick up all 10 pieces of a oval shaped bread which had, what appeared to be, a lot of floss on top of it.     We inquired and realized that it was pork floss ...

Run Milkha Run!

Ask anybody who has been to Singapore before on 'what are the things one can do here' and you will get a lot of familiar responses! - 'Ohh, you must visit the Singapore Zoo, Jurong Bird Park and night safari' - 'Ohh, don't miss the Universal Studios - provided you haven't already been to the one in LA' - 'Ohh don't miss the view from the Marina Bay Sands hotel' During our month long stay here, wifey and me would probably end up visiting all those places which I must say are very interesting aspects in themselves, but we also wanted to do something so that we can add our own unique answer to the above question - something that nobody has done before. In wifey's own words', it has to be ' Class Apart ' Now, being class apart doesn't necessarily mean jumping from a moving plane and landing on one leg right next to Singapore's famous Merlion statue! - that happens only in movies. We just wanted to do so...

The Girl with the Yellow FLower

Just last Sunday, wifey and me decided to head out to the Singapore Zoo which was highly recommended by one and all. We did out research online and decided to take the so-called 'Afternoon Itinerary' which would mean that we reach the Zoo around 12pm and enjoy the attractions till 5 or 6pm. In order to get there we had to take the MRT (the train network) till Ang Mo Kio , which was about 4 stations away from Novena , where we resided and then hop onto bus no. 138 which would take us directly to the Zoo. Right on cue we reached the MRT station at 11:15am and got into a relatively empty train that was heading to Yishun. As we took our seats, I noticed a Chinese girl sitting in front of us, who had also got on with us from Novena. She was around 16 or 17 and wore a simple black tee coupled with dark blue jeans. She had a cute little smile on her face and the thing that made her different from the other Chinese ladies in the train was the fact that she was holding onto a flow...
