Run Milkha Run!

Ask anybody who has been to Singapore before on 'what are the things one can do here' and you will get a lot of familiar responses!
- 'Ohh, you must visit the Singapore Zoo, Jurong Bird Park and night safari'
- 'Ohh, don't miss the Universal Studios - provided you haven't already been to the one in LA'
- 'Ohh don't miss the view from the Marina Bay Sands hotel'

During our month long stay here, wifey and me would probably end up visiting all those places which I must say are very interesting aspects in themselves, but we also wanted to do something so that we can add our own unique answer to the above question - something that nobody has done before. In wifey's own words', it has to be 'Class Apart'

Now, being class apart doesn't necessarily mean jumping from a moving plane and landing on one leg right next to Singapore's famous Merlion statue! - that happens only in movies. We just wanted to do something a little differently from others.

Hence, with some careful planning and online research, last Thursday, the 8th day of August 2013, we went and saw a Hindi movie in a theater in Singapore - that too one of the most memorable films on 2013 - Bhaag Milkha Bhaag!!

You might wonder whats' so great in that - well it was a very unique experience to, firstly, find Bombay Talkies in a small alley on Beach Road and enter into a cinema hall that reminded us of Gaiety - Galaxy in Mumbai and watch Farhan Akhtar in a memorable performance .....with.....(pause for the extra effect)......English subtitles!!

Where else would you see the words - "Koyla kaala hai, Chattanon ne paala hain, Andar kaala, baahar kaala - Par saccha hai saala"......being translated as "Coal is black, bred by rocks....Inside black, outside black, but a real fellow!"

Whatever the case, when the final credits started and we were shown a saying by the real Milha Singh that 'With Hard-work, Determination and Will-power a human can conquer the sky',  I thought to myself - Do something very different when you are in Singapore - (ticked off the list)...
