Abu Amma move to Bengaluru

Image
April 30th 2026 Dear Kapish, When you were growing up, you knew that Nani Aaji would be living with us, while my parents—whom you lovingly call Abu and Amma—were based in Mumbai. In fact, you always thought of their home as Tilak Nagar. The reason for this was simple: I grew up in Mumbai, and both Abu and Amma had their careers there. Over time, though, things have changed. Amma has now retired, Abu has slowed down his work, and both Gauri Atya and I are settled in Bengaluru with our families. Because of this, Abu and Amma have decided to move to Bengaluru as well. They’ll be staying closer to Gauri Atya’s home, so they can support them—much like how Nani Aaji stays with us here. For now, they are still some distance away. But I believe that, little by little, you’ll begin to see them more often in the years to come—exactly how often, we’ll discover together. Cheers, Dadoo

Happy times

Date: 15th April 2026 Dear Kapish, As a child, you were never very expressive. If you liked something, you wouldn’t exclaim with words like “wow” or “amazing.” But you had your own unique way of showing how much something meant to you—you would carry it everywhere. Sometimes even to bed, and occasionally, even to the washroom! I remember one such occasion: a small compass box Mumma got for you, with a tiny key lock. You loved it. And then, more recently, there was another compass box—the one you had been asking us to buy, but ended up receiving as a return gift from Vihaan’s birthday. You carried it with you everywhere. It would be right beside you early in the morning, as we waited together for your school bus to arrive I think we’ve come to love you this way—quiet, but full of feeling in your own beautiful manner. And what was written on that box couldn’t have been more perfect. It said: “Happy Times.” Cheers, Dadoo (P.S - This is the first time I used ChapGPT's AI bot to ref...

Tintin

Image
Date: 14th April 2026 Dear Kapish, Last month when we visited Mumbai, we spent some time in Nitin kaka's house. There in the afternoon, you were done playing and asked Nitin kaka if you could read any book that he had and that's when he presented you his entire Tintin series  Now, the Tintin series is a very old set of books which I used to read in school by borrowing it from the library near my house in Mahim, Mumbai  I used to really like to read his adventures and hoped that someday you too would read all the books with the same interest as I had done. So, once we got back, we purchased the same book and presented it to you and to our greatest pleasure, you took a keen interest in it  Today, was a Holiday for you on account of Ambedkar Jayanti, who you fondly remembered as the 'Constitution Man' - but you did spend a significant amount of time reading about Tintin and also saw 2 cartoons back to back - "The Secret of the Unicorn" and "Red Rackham's...

Su-ko-du

Date: 12th April 2026 Dear Kapish, The game 'Sudoku' is a very difficult game to play even for us adults, let alone a 7 year old! Yet, one of the gifts from your 7th birthday party was a little fun Sudoku board with food items and not numbers. So, we opened it up and I taught you how to play 2 rounds and then just before I left for a Cult Boxing class, I set up another round for you and asked you to complete it on your own  After I got back, you were already done and Mumma told me that you only asked for help with the last 2 pieces which was perfectly Ok for your age  And, though this wasn't the standard 9x9 Sudoku with numbers, you were very well versed in playing the game in your little way  And yes - you even pronounced it Su-Ko-Du -- a name which I kinda liked :) Cheers, Dadoo

Bronze Medal

Date: 1st April 2026 Dear Kapish, In the last blog I had mentioned about the fact that you had won the Relay race and the Gold medal which the school had not provided Today, the medal and certificate did arrive, but unlike what you mentioned - the medal was Bronze and the Certificate was for the 2nd runners-up! Now, this is still your very first Sports medal that you have won and we did celebrate it, but we had to educate you to help you understand that you did not technically win the race, but your team came in third We do like to give you the benefit of doubt here, where you were told that you won a medal and you through it would be the Gold one In any case, we continue to be super proud of this achievement and hope that you push yourself more and more to someday win the 1st prize  Cheers, Dadoo
