Year 1 done!

Image
Date: 23rd May 2026  Dear Kapish, Today was the final Open Day of Year 1, and you received a wonderful report card to cap off what has truly been a fantastic first year at school. You have done very well in Mathematics, English, Science, and Global Perspectives. As expected, there is still some room to grow in Art, Pottery, and Physical Education — and we know you will continue improving there too. Overall, your teachers, Ms. Sangita and Ms. Mitali, had only lovely things to say about you. They mentioned that you have worked hard, performed well, and will continue to do well as you move ahead in your educational journey. While we did receive your Assessment Report, the real highlight of the day was your very first class photograph from Valistus — Year Group 1-B. Your pose in the photograph certainly deserves praise, but more importantly, we know that many years from now, you will look back at this picture and remember the special friendships and beautiful bonds you built in your cl...

Goodbye Shadowfax

Image
Date: 20th May 2026 Dear Kapish, Yesterday, with heavy hearts, we said goodbye to our beloved Honda City — fondly named Shadowfax , inspired by the legendary horse of Gandalf the White from The Lord of the Rings For nearly 11 years, this car was more than just a vehicle to us. It carried our family through countless journeys filled with comfort, adventure, laughter, and unforgettable memories with loved ones and friends. It was also the car in which we brought you home from the hospital for the very first time. And for three wonderful years, it faithfully took you to your Montessori at Kinfolk every single day. Over the years, Shadowfax became a part of our family story — something you beautifully reminded me of this morning when you sat beside me and said, "Aww, Dadoo, I miss our Honda!" Soon, we’ll welcome a brand-new car and create many more adventures together. But Shadowfax will always hold a very special place in our hearts. Cheers, Dadoo

Year-1 SLC

Image
Date: 16th May 2026 Dear Kapish, Today marks the official beginning of your Summer Vacation for 2026. With this, your Year-1 journey has officially come to an end. Unlike many other schools that conduct exams or assessments, at Valistus you had the Student-Led Conference (SLC), where you reflected on everything you learned during the year and confidently presented it to your parents. Overall, you did a wonderful job and completed your first year with meaningful learning and growth. We are very proud of the progress you have made. At the same time, there are a few areas that we can continue to work on together: Improving your attention span and keeping distractions away Spending a little more time strengthening your Spanish skills Apart from these, you presented everything beautifully, and there were two special highlights that truly stood out for us: The way you explained different parts of grammar, especially adverbs The excitement of seeing and understanding a real electrical...

Date: 30th April 2026 Dear Kapish, You called me this evening, saying that you had worked on something special and wrote a story all by yourself. I asked you to read it out to me and you did that as well and while it was overall a good story, it did carry a very nice ending - something which you truly believe in! I hope you write much more and get better at both the stories and the handwriting :) Cheers, Dadoo

Dhruv's Munji

Image
Date: 6th May 2026 Dear Kapish, Today, you attended your very first Thread Ceremony — also known as Brahmopadesam or Munji. It is a sacred Hindu ritual that marks a young boy’s formal entry into the spiritual and religious way of life, beginning his journey of learning discipline, prayer, and the yogic path. As part of the ceremony, he shaves his head and learns the Gayatri Mantra, which he is expected to recite 108 times every day. During the rituals, his sisters guide and support him by applying haldi, kajal, and kumkum as instructed by the pandit — and this is where you stepped in beautifully With the help of Alisha and a few of Dhruv’s cousins, you followed every instruction perfectly. And, true to your curious nature, you had plenty of questions along the way — all of which I tried my best to answer Overall, it was a truly memorable occasion, and these pictures will surely help you relive and talk about this special day for many years to come Cheers, Dadoo

Abu Amma move to Bengaluru

Image
April 30th 2026 Dear Kapish, When you were growing up, you knew that Nani Aaji would be living with us, while my parents—whom you lovingly call Abu and Amma—were based in Mumbai. In fact, you always thought of their home as Tilak Nagar. The reason for this was simple: I grew up in Mumbai, and both Abu and Amma had their careers there. Over time, though, things have changed. Amma has now retired, Abu has slowed down his work, and both Gauri Atya and I are settled in Bengaluru with our families. Because of this, Abu and Amma have decided to move to Bengaluru as well. They’ll be staying closer to Gauri Atya’s home, so they can support them—much like how Nani Aaji stays with us here. For now, they are still some distance away. But I believe that, little by little, you’ll begin to see them more often in the years to come—exactly how often, we’ll discover together. Cheers, Dadoo

Happy times

Date: 15th April 2026 Dear Kapish, As a child, you were never very expressive. If you liked something, you wouldn’t exclaim with words like “wow” or “amazing.” But you had your own unique way of showing how much something meant to you—you would carry it everywhere. Sometimes even to bed, and occasionally, even to the washroom! I remember one such occasion: a small compass box Mumma got for you, with a tiny key lock. You loved it. And then, more recently, there was another compass box—the one you had been asking us to buy, but ended up receiving as a return gift from Vihaan’s birthday. You carried it with you everywhere. It would be right beside you early in the morning, as we waited together for your school bus to arrive I think we’ve come to love you this way—quiet, but full of feeling in your own beautiful manner. And what was written on that box couldn’t have been more perfect. It said: “Happy Times.” Cheers, Dadoo (P.S - This is the first time I used ChapGPT's AI bot to ref...
