Dhruv's Munji
Date: 6th May 2026
Dear Kapish,
Today, you attended your very first Thread Ceremony — also known as Brahmopadesam or Munji. It is a sacred Hindu ritual that marks a young boy’s formal entry into the spiritual and religious way of life, beginning his journey of learning discipline, prayer, and the yogic path.
As part of the ceremony, he shaves his head and learns the Gayatri Mantra, which he is expected to recite 108 times every day. During the rituals, his sisters guide and support him by applying haldi, kajal, and kumkum as instructed by the pandit — and this is where you stepped in beautifully
With the help of Alisha and a few of Dhruv’s cousins, you followed every instruction perfectly. And, true to your curious nature, you had plenty of questions along the way — all of which I tried my best to answer
Overall, it was a truly memorable occasion, and these pictures will surely help you relive and talk about this special day for many years to come
Cheers,Dadoo
