Traveler's tale

Every once in a while, a Traveler on the journey of Life comes across a small village or settlement where he wishes to halt for sometime. It is during this halt that an Almighty power weaves a beautiful web around him and shows him the different facets of human emotions.

Initially, as he enters the village, he is met with a lot of inquisitive eyes. Most of the villagers act curious and a small group even looks at him with scorn. But as time passes by they all start to understand him and their true feelings start to flow.

The small group that looked at him with scorn enhances their hatred for him and decide to stay at at arms' length from him. But the remaining majority take a liking for him and accept him in their lives. They welcome him to their homes, share their food and thoughts with him and become a part of his big family.

As time passes, he starts to get very comfortable with everything around him and at that very moment he is made to realize a bitter truth that he is, but, a Traveler and has to move on to discover newer pastures and make newer enemies and friends.

So, he packs his bags and waves an emotional Goodbye to all the villagers for being such wonderful friends. He wishes them the very Best of Luck for the future and walks out of the village gates, onward, on the path of Life.

However, after walking a few miles he looks back and sees the faint view of the village on the horizon and wonders if Life would complete a circle and bring him back to the place he called his home for so long, because in his heart all he wants to do is still spend some more quality time with the people whom he called his 'Friends'.

Ebbanad - II

(This is a continuation from Ebbanad - I. Please read that before continuing here) Our next destination was the forest shack where we were to camp that night. It was a 30 minute downhill trek and we were welcomed there with gracious helpings of veg pulao and curd rice. After rejuvenating ourselves, we began the main part of the trek – through the forests. Ever since our guide had joined us, he had kept telling us stories about their encounters with elephants and tigers. It had raised our hopes of catching a glimpse of a few along the way. But the important thing to remember was that the experience of the guides had been accumulated over decades of years and by calculating the average it was obvious that our chances of seeing any animal in one day was very bleak. A Fairytale....

It was the 4th of July, I was in Mumbai looking forward to what was probably the most important day of my life. It was also the day that the Rain gods showered the might of the rains, on this island city. Little did they know that the rains were the last thing to stop me from meeting the most important girl I had ever known and to express my feelings for her. It had been raining all morning and I had kept my fingers crossed that it would eventually stop. I delayed my departure from my home for an hour in that hope, but at 11am I simply put on my jacket and left. I told her that I would be reaching at around 12:30pm, considering all the delays in the train……and it was real heartening to see her concern for me, as she made sure that I call her multiple times during my train journey from Tilaknagar to Vile-Parle .
