Off to school...

 Hi Kapissh,

Yesterday, the 1st of June 2022, was the day you officially started school
Kinfolk Montessori in class MONT-1 was your destination, and as I write this, I am glad to tell you that you have successfully completed two days in school without any hiccups

The prep for this day had begun almost a week back when we got that email from your school that you were going to be part of the first batch of kids who gets to start school. Mumma arranged for a beautiful-looking bag with your name inscribed on it, and we got busy finalizing your clothes to wear, snacks to carry, water bottle, and temporary name tag (for the first week). We even started to try and talk to you about what to expect, without knowing if you were able to make any sense of it

The day finally arrived - we woke you up early and got you all ready to go. Your hair was neatly tied into two ponies and you even posed for a few pics before we left


Both Mumma and I drove you to school, and as we approached their main gate, we could see a lot of parents waiting outside. A few kids were already crying, and as we parked the car and walked towards the school, we kept wondering how you would react - would you also cry? or would you cling onto us and refuse to go
In our head, we sort of expected you to accept your new surroundings as you had already experienced this a couple of times before and you had liked the puzzles and other apparatus which were kept in the classrooms

As we got closer to the gate, you were greeted warmly by the headmistress, Mrs. Srividya, and another caretaker who held your hand gently and took you inside. You did look back once, and in your eyes, we could feel you ask the question - "Mumma, Dadoo - will you also be coming?"
You never actually asked this question, but your Mumma very vocally said, "We will be right here. You go and have a good time...". Once you heard that statement, you continued to walk (rather reluctantly) and as we saw you enter the inner school gates, it was very difficult for us to hold back our tears!!

You see Kapissh, for you as a toddler, going to school is probably like opening a door to new experiences. I am pretty sure you were scared, not knowing what to expect, but also looking forward to the toys, balloons, and other stuff that were waiting for you on the inside. But for us as parents, yesterday marked a very emotional moment in our lives
We knew in our hearts that you were growing up, but yesterday that reality hit us hard. No amount of practice could prepare us for the feelings that we experienced while seeing you walk away into another world. A feeling which was echoed by almost all other parents standing there as the tears just wouldn't stop flowing...

A couple of hours later, you walked out all smiling holding a little butterfly which they had made for you and as we clicked this pic, the only feeling in our hearts was about joy, celebration and pride

So here's wishing you the very best of luck. I sincerely hope you go onto achieve all your dreams. Just know this that no matter where you go and what you do - your Mumma and Dadoo will always be present right behind you...

Ebbanad - II

(This is a continuation from Ebbanad - I. Please read that before continuing here) Our next destination was the forest shack where we were to camp that night. It was a 30 minute downhill trek and we were welcomed there with gracious helpings of veg pulao and curd rice. After rejuvenating ourselves, we began the main part of the trek – through the forests. Ever since our guide had joined us, he had kept telling us stories about their encounters with elephants and tigers. It had raised our hopes of catching a glimpse of a few along the way. But the important thing to remember was that the experience of the guides had been accumulated over decades of years and by calculating the average it was obvious that our chances of seeing any animal in one day was very bleak. A Fairytale....

It was the 4th of July, I was in Mumbai looking forward to what was probably the most important day of my life. It was also the day that the Rain gods showered the might of the rains, on this island city. Little did they know that the rains were the last thing to stop me from meeting the most important girl I had ever known and to express my feelings for her. It had been raining all morning and I had kept my fingers crossed that it would eventually stop. I delayed my departure from my home for an hour in that hope, but at 11am I simply put on my jacket and left. I told her that I would be reaching at around 12:30pm, considering all the delays in the train……and it was real heartening to see her concern for me, as she made sure that I call her multiple times during my train journey from Tilaknagar to Vile-Parle . It took me well over an hour to reach my destination. I know, I know…I choose train station to meet my loved one. Most unromantic…...that too considering that I was half soaked...
