Nebulizing the Virus
Hi Kapish,
Continuing on from my last post where we felt you had fallen sick and recovered fully - well we were proven terribly wrong!!
The month of June 2022 had brought in some weird ever-changing weather to Bangalore and along with that came a host of viral infections. So, just when we thought you had recovered and we sent you back to school, you caught the bug and fell sick again
It was on a Thursday, a few weeks' back that you woke up coughing and we decided to keep you at home and started some home remedies. By Saturday, when the condition hadn't improved, we tele-consulted your pediatrician who got you started on some oral medicines
However, these oral medicines didn't seem to help as well - cause by Tuesday, you were running a very high fever accompanied by the constant coughing. On Wednesday - when we checked your fever - it was as high as 102.5F
This called for a visit to the clinic where Dr Poonam examined you and suggested we immediately get you started on a Nebulizer...
Now, to be honest, we did not know what a Nebulizer does, but we were told that it's a harmless device which helps push the medicine directly into the throat and lungs so an immediate effect. The first dose was to be administered at the clinic itself and then we were told to continue giving you medicine through the Nebulizer for another 5 days
Many people told us that Nebulizer was the new normal and lots of kids need it to get better. A lot of adults also use it for a immediate effect. But, trust me when I say that No Parent can ever be happy to see their kid like this.....
The good news, however, is that as of today - Sunday 10th July 2022 - there has been no fever for 3 days and the cough is slowly but surely improving
You're still very cranky and giving us trouble to eat food - but hopefully you will be fully back to normal soon and we are very much looking forward to that
Also, here is something I though I would never have to do - the main reason why I did not even consider the medical profession - but I had to do this for you... :)
Regards,
Dadoo
