Gold Medal

Image
Date: 31st March 2026 Dear Kapish, While March was a busy month, the main highlight was that you took part in a Relay race during the Sports Fiesta and won the Gold medal! We had opted for this race based on a recommendation that you had given and you told that you were paired with 1 student from Year-2 and 1 student from 1-A and had done well in the practice races. But, when you returned home on Wednesday, 18th of March, you proudly announced, "I won the Gold Medal!" Now, the school did a screw up saying that the medals and certificates were not delivered and promised to give it later, but you did this pose to show us who was the winner! Cheers, Dadoo

Spring Break

Image
Date: 31st March 2026 Dear Kapish, Last week you had a Spring Break and we decided to spend time in Mumbai. We just back yesterday capping off a very busy month of March  The Mumbai trip was largely meant to be a relaxing one and we meant our cousins, roamed around a bit and the highlight for you was the time spent at Hamleys' Play in Jio world drive mall  This picture we clicked of you perfectly summarizes the holiday with a happy smile  Cheers, Dadoo

War time reading

Date: 25th March 2026 Dear Kapish, When you look back at any news of March 2026, the headlines will be dominated by the US-Israel v/s Iran war and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz which has caused a Energy crisis world-wide  I write this blog from Mumbai, where we have come for a week as you had your 'Spring Break' and so far India has not felt the real brunt (except a crash in the stock market) - but it is very important to understand what is happening around the world as part of a History lesson   Now, the interesting part of this War is the none of the 3 nations involved have a border and the war is mostly being fought in the air with missiles. But there is a lot of collateral damage which has occurred and the countries in the middle-east like Qatar, Kuwait, UAE have born the brunt of the attacks from across the sea  People wonder why Iran, a Muslim nation, would attack another Muslim brother country and it essentially lies in the fact that these countries are...

Science taught right!

Image
Date: 16th March 2026 Dear Kapish, March has been a hectic month for me. Hence, I am writing the first blog of the month from Mumbai airport, where I had come to drop Nanni ajji and that too about a topic which happened last month   As you know by now, I am an Engineer and a student of Science and unfortunately all through my educational years I learnt science in theory with very limited practical experience. Atleast in school, we were always told that this is how things work and very rarely shown how Things are different for you though and last month, we had a Home task where Sangita ma'am asked you to keep some water, a banana, a piece of cheese and a rubber band in the freezer for 24hrs and report what you observed  Post 24hrs, when we got the contents out of fridge, you observed and noted down that except the rubber band, all other things had frozen - the reason being that these objects contained water  I felt this was the correct way a student needs to learn sci...

Marie Curie

Image
Date: 28th Feb 2026 Dear Kapish, One of the Home Tasks you had this week was to research about 1 famous Inventor and create a Fact sheet on them which talks about their achievement and the impact they created   Mumma suggested we choose Marie Curie, which I though was brilliant idea and hence we prepared a Fact sheet for you to read and present in class on the first woman to win the Nobel prize and that too Two of them! But after you read what we had printed for you, the inquisitiveness in you kicked in and the questions you asked after that had us very impressed  Q1 - "What is the Nobel prize?" Q2 - "Was the Novel prize given only in Poland (where Marie Curie was born) or was it given world-wide?" Q3 - "Is Marie Curie was so famous - did her photo appear on the Currency as well?"   The last question stemmed from you recent class on Currency, which in itself was impressive given how less we use them now. But the questions got us thinking as well I was able...

We go again...

Date: 19th Feb 2026 Dear Kapish, Just to update the results from the previous blog - No, you did not win the Inter-tribe skating event. Infact, you came home with a bruised elbow. So, it looks like you slipped and fell and hence couldn't complete the race and were disappointed and said, " Hope Tribe came last! " 😔 But just as I had mentioned, participating is far more important than the result. The good thing about Sport is that it teaches us to accept failure in a positive way. You win some - you loose some! That's life  So, we cheer up and go on to continue to try harder ....   A little update on my health journey - I have been regular at Cult-Fit and found a liking to Boxing, Arms workout and even some Dance fitness. This has helped me feel fitter (though the weight loss is not very obvious) I also look a bit fitter and today, I was able to do wicket-keeping for 3 out of 4 matches in the mini-office cricket league   I hope both you and I continue to use Sport as m...

Inter-tribe Skating

Image
Date: 18th Feb 2026 Dear Kapish, Today is going to be a very good and important day for you in school There is an inter-tribe Skating event today and though you were not part of the Skating class in school, you did try out in the previous rounds and got selected the the Finals today wherein you will be representing Hope Tribe and skate/race against students from other tribes   Trust me when I say this, representing your tribe or even your school in any event is matter of great pride. I used to try a lot of be part of the Red House when I was in school, but the competition was fierce and I never got an opportunity as such - you, however, were selected in Year-1 and it's an amazing feat But before the skating finals actually start, we got a notification that you will be one of the 4 students selected to talk about any 1 new event in a creative manner  We felt it would be good for you to talk about the Indian Women's Cricket team and increase awareness of their recent succes...
