The Red Spot

Something really interesting happened to start of the New year for us. 

Last Tuesday, the 3rd of January 2023, as I dropped you and was driving home, the radio was on and RJ Prithvi on Fever FM 104 asked a question which was targeted for 5th Grade kids. The question was as follows

"There is a big Red Spot on the plant Jupiter - Can you tell the size of the Red Spot when compared to our planet Earth?"

We had to send the answer to the number 9739-104-104 

I reached our apartment, parked the car and since the number was easy to remember, I messaged them saying "The Red Spot is 3 times the size of planet Earth" and completely forgot about it. I have tried to take part in many competitions before and never had won till date and hence did not expect any response from them

 

An hour later, however, I got a call from a anonymous number and when I picked it up - it was RJ Prithvi on the other end. He put me on Air and asked me the question again. He even helped me saying the answer is not 3 and gave me another chance to try and answer 

With some guidance, I was able to get the correct answer - The Red Spot on Jupiter is 1.3 times the size of Earth - and Volla, we had won a prize hamper from School of India!!

The next day Mumma, you and me went to the Fever FM studio to collect the hamper and took some nice pictures



I do believe the year 2023 is off to a good start and I hope I can share many more such intersting stories with you here throughout the year

Ebbanad - II

(This is a continuation from Ebbanad - I. Please read that before continuing here) Our next destination was the forest shack where we were to camp that night. It was a 30 minute downhill trek and we were welcomed there with gracious helpings of veg pulao and curd rice. After rejuvenating ourselves, we began the main part of the trek – through the forests. Ever since our guide had joined us, he had kept telling us stories about their encounters with elephants and tigers. It had raised our hopes of catching a glimpse of a few along the way. But the important thing to remember was that the experience of the guides had been accumulated over decades of years and by calculating the average it was obvious that our chances of seeing any animal in one day was very bleak. A Fairytale....

It was the 4th of July, I was in Mumbai looking forward to what was probably the most important day of my life. It was also the day that the Rain gods showered the might of the rains, on this island city. Little did they know that the rains were the last thing to stop me from meeting the most important girl I had ever known and to express my feelings for her. It had been raining all morning and I had kept my fingers crossed that it would eventually stop. I delayed my departure from my home for an hour in that hope, but at 11am I simply put on my jacket and left. I told her that I would be reaching at around 12:30pm, considering all the delays in the train……and it was real heartening to see her concern for me, as she made sure that I call her multiple times during my train journey from Tilaknagar to Vile-Parle .
