Expressions Day

Dear Kapish,

Today, you attended your very first event in Valistus which was called Expressions Day. The idea was that every student of Year-1 would host a small stall which would explain a small bit of the work you have studied so far in school

Your stall was based on Diwali - you were given a long script which started with an Introduction to Diwali, how it is celebrated and then you went on the describe the different colours of Diwali - but in Spanish. This combined the 2 concepts you have studied i.e a Festival as part of Global Perspectives and Colours in Spanish  

Mumma sent some very interesting bits of things which were used aptly to decorate your stall - something which even Manishi Ma'am appreciated and because you spoke so confidently, you were assigned a prime spot just at the entrance of Class I-B

Many parents came up to your table and you must have repeated your script atleast 30 times or more with a lot of enthusiasm!

And yes, it was the first time you were doing it and hence 1 hour after you started, you did feel tired - like a lot of other kids and asked for a break. We got you some biscuits and you went about your business once again 

 Now, at this age, you probably dont understand the importance of this event. But hosting a stall and explaining the same thing over and over is something we adults commonly do in a conference as part of any Marketing event. I specially have done it multiple times and it was very heartening to see that this concept was introduced to you so early 

Trust me, we were very proud of how you performed today and I know for sure that this will most definitely help you in the long run

Ebbanad - II

(This is a continuation from Ebbanad - I. Please read that before continuing here) Our next destination was the forest shack where we were to camp that night. It was a 30 minute downhill trek and we were welcomed there with gracious helpings of veg pulao and curd rice. After rejuvenating ourselves, we began the main part of the trek – through the forests. Ever since our guide had joined us, he had kept telling us stories about their encounters with elephants and tigers. It had raised our hopes of catching a glimpse of a few along the way. But the important thing to remember was that the experience of the guides had been accumulated over decades of years and by calculating the average it was obvious that our chances of seeing any animal in one day was very bleak. A Fairytale....

It was the 4th of July, I was in Mumbai looking forward to what was probably the most important day of my life. It was also the day that the Rain gods showered the might of the rains, on this island city. Little did they know that the rains were the last thing to stop me from meeting the most important girl I had ever known and to express my feelings for her. It had been raining all morning and I had kept my fingers crossed that it would eventually stop. I delayed my departure from my home for an hour in that hope, but at 11am I simply put on my jacket and left. I told her that I would be reaching at around 12:30pm, considering all the delays in the train……and it was real heartening to see her concern for me, as she made sure that I call her multiple times during my train journey from Tilaknagar to Vile-Parle .
