Matilda
Date: 26th July 2026
Dear Kapish,
This morning, we were invited by one of our DSR residents, Amitesh Sharma (Flat 4134), to visit his home and explore his family's impressive collection of books.
Amitesh and his son, Aarav, are both voracious readers, and their home library is a treasure trove of books for readers of all ages.
It was wonderful interacting with them, and I came away having learnt a few new things myself. Amitesh highly recommended "The Devotion of Suspect X," a book that has now found its way onto my reading list. I also discovered that Satyajit Ray, besides creating the legendary Byomkesh Bakshi, wrote an entire series of detective stories featuring the famous sleuth Feluda—something I had somehow never explored before.
But while I enjoyed browsing their collection, the real purpose of our visit was all yours.
Ever since you started Grade 2, your Home Room Facilitator, Ms. Swapna, who also teaches you English, has been encouraging the class to read as many Roald Dahl books as possible.
She has introduced you to the colourful characters from his stories, and I can already see that influence finding its way into your own imagination. In one of the stories you recently wrote, you even renamed Sleeping Beauty as Princess Bayer B. Rose—a wonderfully creative twist that made us smile.
So, when you walked into Amitesh's library, you had one mission in mind.
You wanted to find Matilda.
Within moments, you spotted it on the shelf, picked it up, and immediately knew that this was the book you wanted to read next
One of Amitesh's ideas is to start a community book club, and I think it is a wonderful initiative—one that we would be more than happy to be a part of.
But I didn't want to wait.
On our way back, I bought you your very own copy of Matilda, and I couldn't have been happier to see you begin reading it almost immediately.
They say that readers are made one book at a time.
If Matilda becomes the book that opens the door to a lifelong love of reading, I think it will be one of the best investments we've ever made.
Cheers,
Dadoo
