Bunty aur Bubly

On a day when the date reads 08-08-08.......here is an interesting story from my past:-

It was a fine summer day. Five guys were lazing around in the magnificent drawing room of 3450/A, 4th Cross, Indiranagar. That's when a messenger came knocking on our doorstep with a flower bouquet and some wrapped items. We had to power-up our inactive brains to realize that it was February 14th - Valentines' Day!!

Four hearts, including mine, were broken when we found out that the gifts were meant for Mr. NP.

Our first thought was that N had obviously hidden something from us, but that did not worry us too much as we gobbled up the chocolates to satisfy our ever hungry tummies and than shifted our attention to N, who, by now, had opened up the greeting card and was reading the contents studiously. The card read something like this:

Dear Bunty,

Happy Valentines' Day......miss you....blah blah....chumma.

Your and Yours only,
Bubly.

That's when we decided to interrogate N and make him confess his crime. Ideally this would mean tying him up to the plastic chair in the middle of the room, with a lonely bulb on his head. But N was too large, to force him to do this and hence we preferred to use our verandah for the same. Our inexperience as interrogators was very obvious because we could get nothing out of him.

After lots of pondering, AH and me decided to change our designations from 'Interrogators' to 'Detectives'. We had nothing useful to do and, thus, made up our mind to get to the root of this crime. So, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson were ready with their trademark hats and pipes in mouth.

The crime scene was right in front of us. 70% of the evidence - flower pot and coffee mug, was on the top of our little fridge. The remaining 30% - the chocolates, were safe in our stomachs.

Plan A - We started off with fingerprint analysis, only to realize that we had tampered so much with the card that we would see only our prints on it. We had to move to plan B.

Plan B - Handwriting Analysis - address on envelope, spellings, colour of ink, space between words - all were analyzed in great depth and some conclusions were drawn -

1. Bubly was working in Wipro.
2. Bubly was not from Mumbai.
3. Bubly had met N only recently.

Based on our initial findings, we already had a prime suspect - Ms SG!!!

We all knew that SG and N were best of friends. She hailed from Delhi and had met with N only a year back. She had visited our 3450 home on a few ocassions for so called 'study sessions', but we all knew the truth.

However, due to insufficient evidence we did not make any arrests than. In a sincere effort to find evidence, we guys than started looking forward to days which we would normally never care about - Friendship Day, Rose Day, Girlfriends' Day, Boyfriends' Day....etc....not to forget Bunty's Birthday!!

At one point of time, we even intrrogated the poor courier boy who had come to deliver the flowers and came to our 4th conclusion about our suspect:

4. Bubly lives in Koramangala.

It was than that we decided to confront our prime suspect with our findings. When Ms. SG read our crime report the look on her face was that of disbelief!!
"Shit......I am in trouble!!!"

Again our evidence was circumstantial. SG pleaded that she was being framed and it was quite a possibility. Somehow, after that 'bubly strikes' became lesser and our investigation lost steam.

Miss Bubly is still out there!!!

Mr. Bunty, I know you'll read this and feel satisfied that the case is closed. But, I wish to inform you that it's not!! Lot of question remain unanswered from your end -
1. Do you continue to recieve the gifts in Pune?
2. Did you shift to Pune looking for Bubly?
3. Are you hiding something from the beginning???

As for Ms. SG, until I find the real Bubly, you will continue to be our prime suspect. I do know now, that on trips without Bunty, you attention focuses on cleaning up other available Romeos', but that is forgiven. :)

So on this special day of yours', I would like to dedicate this blog to you - HAPPY BIRTHDAY Bubly!!!

(PS: You have to forgive the little garnish that I have added to the story. You have tasted my cooking and know how important the masala is)

Cheers!! :)

I think your skills are wasted with your current job. All you need is a Kitty and then you could bring Karamchand back to life.
